META HISTORY
hmmm i think there's a joke to be made about the mc_meta file but im not sure how to go about it...
hokay so due to the nature of my minecraft era (long, took place during years i dont remember well anymore, etc) it's gonna take me like a bajillion years to piece everything together SO instead youre getting a sorta sparknotes version of it (except im ME so "brief" is merely a suggestion)
BRIEF ("BRIEF") HISTORY
3rd-5th grade ish
i first started with MLP OCs and then at some point started making Minecraft ones. biggest thing i did was the hybrid stuff (started with Dusk) but I also repurposed this random ghost guy I drew into some human kid living with an Enderman I drew once named Zerk (the human would become Eclipse). i think this was also the earlyish beginnings of Minecraft parodies so sometimes my characters were influenced by songs (i based some hybrids off of JT Machinima's mob raps, and i used to bawl so hard to "Running Out of Time" that it kickstarted the "i can make my OCs feel pain and suffering and i think it's fun" thing; another cute memory i have is imagining Eclipse going through the story of "Enderborn" while also not knowing it was a parody since i wouldnt play Skyrim until 2017). while i worked on the story of Eclipse and Zerk, my love for the hybrid idea would expand into making another story that was focused on hybrids in the Nether. I would also make up another story focusing around a witch hybrid named Jason and his human friend Jake. i dont... remember much of what they did? besides smth along the lines of "oh no the big coven of witches is evil and wants to kill Jason for being a hybrid noooo" and then they dismantled the government and put someone else in charge idk bro. there was also an evil kid named Andre who led an Evil Science Lab and wanted Jason to experiment on for Evil Reasons. but luckily there were two Good Scientists named Isaiah and Michael who didnt agree with the Evil Science so they would help Jason on occasions.
the main characteristics of this era were working on the End/Nether/witch stories, building lore for the world, and poking around with other characters here and there (Dusk, other hybrids, etc.). although sometimes i built actual structures in minecraft related to my characters or let some minecraft worlds influence their stories, for the most part my characters and actual gameplay were separate. this would change.
middle school
long ago, the hybrids and the end/nether/witch stories lived together in harmony; then everything changed when some middle schooler made a certain minecraft world on their iPad mini; only the creator, master of three minecraft editions (pocket, java, console), could keep balance, but when the OCs needed them most, they got obsessed with a stupid twink on the iPad mini.
at some point in middle school i made a creative world. the plan was to build stories off of what i saw in the world. i spawned in a jungle. on one side of the jungle was an extreme hills biome (my favorite at the time) with a cave in a hill. on the other side of the jungle was a river that ran back into itself, and flowed through a desert, a taiga, and a savanna. i built a little cafe in the cave in the hill, decided it was run by a family of many siblings, and that the youngest sibling dreamed of leaving the cafe and the extreme hills biome and taking a boat through the jungle. you see, the extreme hills biome was under an empire run by the jungle biome (aka the Jungle Empire) and the three biomes with the river (aka the Tri-Biome Alliance) was a safe haven for refugees escaping the dystopian rule of the Empress (this was also the era of YA dystopian novels, if you cant tell). thankfully he would make it, and find himself in the desert portion of the Alliance. he would become friends with this one guy who's like a police officer/military officer or something (i didnt know exactly; i just wanted them to wear uniforms), and they would work together. the friend also happened to be related to the king of the desert (he was the king's nephew, i believe) but he just wanted a normal, non-royal life. after watching this story unfold, i realized these characters needed names. seeing as how they lived in the desert, i googled "desert names" because i wanted to be "accurate" (my apologies for being an incredibly uninformed white middle schooler, but at least my heart was in the right place... sorta) and decided "Ezekiel" and "Samir" sounded pretty good.
for a while things were peaceful. i still played around with the End story, the Nether characters, and Jason and Jake all while building this new story. however, i felt trapped with it being in minecraft. i wanted guns. and planes. also guns. and what wasnt in minecraft? guns. but what was in this new hit musical by lin-manual miranda that just came out? GUNS (..........and ships). things had to change. after a trip to see some family out in California, i decided to take this story out of minecraft and into the real world. instead of the extreme hills, it would be Austria; instead of the Jungle Empire, it would be an empire that spanned Europe; instead of the Tri-Biome Alliance, it would be the US split into three major regions; and instead of the desert, it would be Los Angeles. excited at the new possibilities, i embraced the changed. but fate was sealed, and the decline of my minecraft stories was imminent.
late middle school-early high school
life continued on like this for a good bit. i had my (now beginning to call them "old") minecraft stories that coexisted alongside my new, non-minecraft story. however, that feeling of being trapped by the confines of minecraft was starting to take over. the End story and the Nether story felt too intertwined with minecraft to repurpose them, so they stayed mostly the same (except for updating things as i went along, such as character rewrites or redesigns). however, i started to eye up Jason and Jake for a reason i dont quite remember. by early high school, i had taken their characters and built up a new setting now known as Nothing Good Happens After 10 PM. the idea of Jason being a witch/witch-related stuck, but Jake became the main character and I also made them 40-something when originally they were both like 18 or whatever. i also had this new story idea that i had dubbed the Bad Timeline (present-day y2bajillion) and it needed some scientist characters so i thought why dont i just reuse Isaiah, Michael, and Andre too but for this new idea?? cool!!!!!!! in fact while we're at it, let's put the Nether story characters in a non-minecraft setting too--what if it was cyberpunk and Jethro was a Cool hacker guy with a cyberpunk motorcycle (woooawwww) and he was a vigilante and Osteo was the son of some politician who hated Jethro but (gasp) Osteo and Jethro were actually friends (what omg no way) and then there was PLOT (wowie). so now out of four of my minecraft stories, two had been completely scrapped and repurposed, one was torn between still being minecraft and a cyberpunk au i guess, and one (rather poetically, the first one) was still completely minecraft. for a time, i still at least thought about the minecraft stories/characters. but then i decided to make a "fantasy AU" and uhhhhhhhh you can see what happened with the so-called "AU" elsewhere on the site
mid high school-today (post-college)
slowly but surely the minecraft characters started to fade from my thoughts. i still knew them and their stories, but i no longer actively thought about them (i was too caught up in fleshing out this new "Yakov" guy to go with this "Senan" character). eventually, my minecraft stories would simply become part of my creative history. today, theyre very near and dear to my heart, but im way too into making up fantasy genders. i still like to draw them every once in a while, though. for the funsies.
