Before Ksunya’s death, Tsarista Yelenovna was largely regarded by many to be kind and thoughtful, always insisting on diplomatic discussions before bloodshed. After Ksunya’s assassination, however, she withdrew from the public eye and her diplomacy was replaced with violent military command. When Yuka meets what they expected to be a cold and cruel tsaritsa, they're surprised to find that she is neither of these things. Instead, she welcomes them with joy—albeit melancholic—and confides in them her fears for how things are outside of the palace. When asked about the violent military advancements, she seems confused, admitting that she has been too caught up in her grief to properly run the nation, and that her withdrawal included giving up military control to her brother.
Before Ksunya's death, the Tsaritsa was considered by many subjects to be kind, thoughtful, and open-minded. Other nobility disliked listening to the common people complain about their petty problems, but she insisted on it. She tries to credit Ksunya for that insistence, as Ksunya's original social standing was much closer to the everyday person than nobility and she wasn't afraid to point out places the Tsaritsa could improve upon.
Known for her dainty posture and slender figure, and is often regarded as the epitome of upper-class beauty standards. Her skin tone is a purple-ish blue and her teardrop-shaped freckles can mainly be seen on her forehead, cheeks, and hands. She has a rather smooth three-quarters profile as her browline and cheekbones don't stick out too far. Her face sports a thin, sloped nose and the shading on her pupils is derived from Ksunya's purple for yuri reasons. Originally she kept her hair in a long braid, but after Ksunya's death she cut it short and has refused to grow it out since then. She has tattoos too buuuut they're only in places for Ksunya to see.
Although she has an absurdly extensive wardrobe (something different for sleeping in, lounging in, going to parties, leading diplomatic meetings, attending ceremonies, etc.), she does in fact have a "basic, but wouldn't be caught dead in anything less" outfit for daily palace life. It sports a small (by typical standards) kokoshnik and a six-pointed collar. The top is like a... corset... vest... thing look I don't know I just draw it. The white fabric has some sort of shimmery gleam to it (again I don't know I just draw it) and her veil and arm... things are made of a shimmery lace material. She has cute little shoes with a slight heel to go with everything, but you usually don't see them because of the big skirt.
- Vodjmir Yuka - Such a sweetie. She feels bad about being so stand-offish when they first met, but she also knows that Yuka understands and doesn't blame her for it.
- Vonyova - According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
- High King Vadim - According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
- Ksunya - According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
- The Sovskovan Pantheon - According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
- She's secretly not a bad artist and enjoys doing little sketches of people and still lifes. She picked up drawing as a way to send letters that Ksunya could "read" when she was out doing vodjmir things and then it stuck. She stopped drawing after Ksunya's death as she had no reason to continue, but she picks it back up to send Yuka letters.
- She's all for Sovskova's traditional isolationist stance until it comes to her very expensive imported tea collection. No one mentions it. Otherwise you go dungeon.
- Her mother died from illness when she was young, and her father died sometime after her and Ksunya got married. Ksunya's death further popularized the rumor that her family (or at least the Tsaritsa) is cursed and also contributed to her faltering faith in the pantheon.

Her semi-formal dress—simple enough as to not hinder her daily routine, yet just fancy enough to match her title of "tsaritsa." If she's doing any sort of work around the castle, she would not be caught dead in anything less.
The image itself comes from the RS Seminar Capstone (the link will go here... SOMEDAY). Since I was crunching for time, it's a simple modification of her dress with the apron (literally I just switched the apron out for the open skirt cover thing and then made the bottom half bigger/longer).

Not the first time I will have her quote this, nor is it the last. I think I drew this on my pizza shift. Also tsaritsa your bitch too bad. Your empire too vast. They'll kill you.

More doodles on the pizza shift. Idea is that Yelenovna had to sit in on a bunch of meetings when she was still just tsesarevna and she thought they were booooring as fuuuuuckkkkk so she'd sneak off to go "check on the workers" (stare at Ksunya through a window).
Text off to the side is stuff she might say to Yuka when reminiscing about their relationship. As the tsesarevna, she had already accepted that her marriage would be for economic stability, so she found it unexpected when she did actually fall in love with someone. Today, I would replace "economic stability" with "political connection" or smth, but the rest stands up. Also ignore the horse. I was busy making pizza.

Her semi-formal dress but for when she was younger (either as the new tsaritsa or tsesarevna). The pattern on her apron represents the sacred mountain and aurora. As this image is of her from before Ksunya's death, she still has her long braid and its ribbon (which is notably more purple to match Ksunya, of course).
The image comes from my first year joining Art Fight. I decided to do her younger design since I thought it'd be simpler and I could pair her with a still-alive Ksunya too (adowable). This is also the first time I sat down and committed to finalizing her design. You can see it's always been similar, but I never settled on something specific.

Drawn during my pizza shift. Just a simple side profile drawing on a slow Tuesday. Sometimes I miss her little sparkle earrings. Off to the side you can see see the first few letters of me trying to remember how to spell царица (tsaritsa) and цесаревна (tsesarevna).

Every once in a while I get tired of drawing humanoids so I go back to my roots and draw everyone as ponies. Did this in my Russian notes (as you can see by the writing on the back of the paper). Talking about the weather, I think? She does in fact любит холодню погоду and не любит жаркую погоду as a snow elf, so it's sorta on topic (I think I was bored doing homework; sorry professor).
Anyway I made her a unicorn for a reason I can't quite describe (something about Sovskovan rulers not being magical enough to translate into alicorns; yes I take my ponifications SERIOUSLY bro), and I figured elves would have some ear tuffs as ponies so she's got those.

First time I really sat down to draw the Tsaritsa and Ksunya. I hadn't come up with final designs for their outfits yet, but I decided to just draw them anyway and see what I thought of.
You can see here the Tsaritsa used to be a lighter, more blueish blue. I changed it because I was deathly afraid people would make her (dainty, feminine, upper class, etc.) way too lighter than Ksunya (bigger, masculine, lower class, etc.) Her new, more purple color was inspired by the "serving cunt" drawing; I was surprised I dropped it in the first place as I do love the color combination (although I do miss the blue sometimes).

The cute drawing of the two of them before this one only exists because I really wanted to draw this and then decided to actually draw them for realsies. Yeah that's it. That's the flipnote buddy.

So in my very serious class about present-day issues in Indigenous communities our professor wanted us to take pictures of our notes and send them in for credit. Great class, great professor, I drew this on my notes and turned it in. Maybe he saw it, maybe he didn't. He follows me on Instagram though so he sees that. Sorry for drawing yuri on my notes.
Oh and the water is supposed to be sacred spring water but whatever.

Yelenovna's thumbnail picture for her Art Fight profile. I... forgot her little sparkle freckles????? At least you can use this to see her teardrop freckles whateverrrr.

A collection of miscellaneous drawings and bonus Tunukak up at the top. Yes Ksunya sheds. No Yelenovna doesn't mind (...and she would be devastated if she did shave). The shirt says "I fell off the star ladder and all I got was this stupid shirt."

The first time I drew the "miss my wife, vodjmir." Also possibly the first time I drew younger Tsaritsa. Originally her tsesarevna design would sport a vest of some kind. Maybe I'll keep it for a even younger design... we'll see! Also the Yelenovna, Ksunya, and Vadim picture is based off that one meme.

Not the first time I drew her digitally but I think the first time I digitally drew her in this outfit. The rest of the joke (that I swear I drew somewhere but???) was Vadim whispering to Yelenovna, "...Sister, this 'vodjmir' doesn't even know what 'serving cunt' means!"
I also had the idea that the feathers vodjmir wear were passed down or something, hence the little comic of her giving Yuka the feather.
